Intelligence wing of CRPF will be expanded: IGP

Coimbatore, Aug 23 (UNI) Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF), IGP for Southern Sector P Mallana Goud said the intelligence wing of the CRPF will be expanded in a big way shortly.

Talking to newspersons here today, he said though there is an intelligence wing with the CRPF, its area of work is very less and at most of the places they work with state police officials.

He said at present two CRPF battalions have been converted into Special Armed Force (SAF) by providing more training to meet the challenges posed by the Naxalites and another ten battalions will be converted as SAF soon as the country needs at least 40 such battalions to control the Naxalite activities in the country.

Mr Goud said the group centres which exits in various states to provide housing and other facilities to the CRPF jawans' family would be increased with an additional 500 acres of land in the southern state soon.
