Former Agricultural officer convicted

Hyderabad, Aug 23 (UNI) Principal Special Judge for SPE&ACB Cases, here today sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment, former Agricultural Officer in the office of Assistant Director of Agriculture, Hyderabad Urban, D Ravindra Babu on charge of corruption.

The accused was also imposed a fine of Rs 2500 each for offences u/s 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

In case of default in payment of fine, the accused would have to undergo three-months simple imprisonment. Both the sentences were ordered to run concurrently, a press release said.

Earlier, he was trapped by ACB Officials on August one, 2003 when he accepted a bribe of Rs 5000 from a complainant for processing his application for renewal of license for his shop, the release added.
