Alva asks party workers to gear up Congress for elections

Gurgaon, Aug 23 (UNI) All India Congress Committee General Secretary (AICC) Margarat Alva today asked party workers to gear up the party for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Ms Alva, who is incharge of Haryana congress, was addressing the party workers sammelan of Gurgaon and Faridabad Lok Sabha constituencies at the District Congress Bhawan here.

She instructed the party ministers and MLAs to give due regard to the workers and listen to their problems as it would go a long way in strengthening the party for the elections.

Her remarks drew instant applause as she asked the elected leaders to devote specified time in their respective Assembly constituencies for the purpose. The MPs and MLAs would do well to set up their offices as well in their constituencies in this regard. She directed the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Phool Chand Mulana to chalk out a strategy so that ministers and MLAs could listen to the grievances of workers.

Addressing the workers, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda stressed on the need to make the workers feel that it was their party's government in the state and warned officers against ignoring the workers coming to their offices for redressal of public grievances.
