Vice-President greets people on Janmashtami

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Vice-President Mohd Hamid Ansari has greeted the people of the country on the occasion of Janmashtami and called for imbibing Lord Krishna's teachings ''for the creation of a just and peaceful society''.

In his message, Mr Ansari said the life and teachings of Lord Krishna were ''a beacon of light to the humanity in times of moral decay, conflict and strife''.

Extending his greetings and good wishes to the people on the auspicious occasion, he said, ''Lord Krishna is the embodiment of the sublime and eternal values of life. We need to imbibe his teachings for the creation of a just and peaceful society.'' ''May this festival unite us all in realising a peaceful, harmonious and enlightened society,'' the message added.
