SIMI suspects seek bail from K'taka HC
Hubli, Aug 22 (UNI) Four suspected SIMI operatives who are now in different jails in Belgaum and Bellary today filed an appeal to Karnataka High Court bench in Dharwad seeking bail.
The suspects, Asadulla, Dr Mirja Ahamed, Yahya Kamkoti and Sayad Siddiqi have been in jail for the past six months as undertrials on the charges of hatching terrorist activities in Karnataka and Goa.
The Davangere and CoD police had arrested them as they were allegedly involved in various unlawful and terrorist activities.
Charge-sheets had also been filed against them.
They went on an appeal to the High Court after their bail plea was rejected in JMFC and District Courts here recently.
Accepting the application, Judge R V Nayak adjourned the hearing to next week.
The Judge also directed the Public prosecutor to file his objections on the bail plea. The Court also directed the CoD and other related officials to be present in the court during the hearing.
