Rape-murder convict asked to serve water in school

Sonepat, Aug 22 (UNI) A juvenile convicted of murder and attempt to rape, was today sentenced by the local court to serve drinking water to students of a local school for mentally challenged children for one-and-a-half years.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sonepat, R P Goel has convicted the accused for attempt to rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in March 1998.

According to details of the case on March 21, 1998, the juvenile, a resident of Idgah colony, Gohana took the minor in an under construction house near the colony and attempted to rape her. But when she raised an alarm, the accused who was carrying a knife with him, stabbed her to death.

The police arrested the Juvenile and recovered the knife used in the murder from his possession. The forensic reports found finger prints of the accused and blood strains of the victim on the knife.

The CJM has also directed the Secretary District Red Cross Society to submit monthly reports about the Juvenile's conduct.

The Secretary of the Society, Subhash Vashist informed that RUCHI was a day-school for mentally challenged children and total strength of the students was 50 at present.
