Gold, Silver advanced in opening session
Mumbai, Aug 22: Both the precious metals advanced today with silver rising by Rs 335 per kg to Rs 21,320 and gold by Rs 100 per ten gm to Rs 11,840 from its previous close on brisk buying support from ornament makers, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.
Like domestic market, in international market too an upward march was witnessed as gold rose to USD 835.55/837.55 an ounce from USD 832.40/833.40 an ounce, while silver edged up to USD 13.80/13.86 an ounce from USD 13.45/13.50 late in New York. Precious metals surged on Friday, Aug 22 amid rising crude oil price and weak dollar, dealers informed.
Following were the opening domestic spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 21,320 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 11,840 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 11,910.
