Lalu to introduce monorail project in Patna

Patna, Aug 22: Inspired by the success of monorail in Kuala Lumpur, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad was actively thinking to introduce such system in Patna.

Deputy General Manager (ECR) AK Chandra said here on Friday, Aug 22 that a team headed by General Manager Piush Kaushal will conduct a survey before taking up such project.

Initially the team will locate the possible sites in Patna to carry on the project, he added.

The team visited different parts of the city on Thursday, Aug 21 and studied its master plan, Mr Chandra said, adding the ministry would also approach the state government for its cooperation.

The Railway minister was of the opinion that monorail project would effectively ease the traffic snarls in Patna, he stated.
