Kerala to set up electronic industrial park
Kasargod, Aug 22 (UNI) The Kerala government proposed to set up an ambitious electronic industrial park at Caivallige in the district, State Industries'Minister Elamaran Kareem said today.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said the Kerala Industrial Infrastructural Development Corporation (Kinfra) was in the process of acquiring about 500 acres of land for the proposed project.
The idea was mooted while considering huge potential for the electronics sector in the wake of coming up of a strategic electronics' manufacturing unit of the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) at Seethangoli in the district, he said.
In the first phase, the HAL unit would assemble, test and manufacture six types of air-borne mission computers.
Thereafter,the facility would shift to production of other systems and sub-systems for various aircrafts, such as the medium- lift helicopter and fifth-generation aircraft.
Defence Minister A K Antonty would lay the foundation stone for the 66.31 crore initial investment project at Seethangoli tomorrow.
