Goa govt's initiative to conserve Heritage structures

Panaji, Aug 22 (UNI) Goa government has taken an initiative to restore and conserve Heritage structures by allocating funds, under the 12th finance commission grants available for the period ending March 2010.

This was stated by Archaeology minister Atanasio Monserrate in reply to a starred question of Ms Victoria Fernandes during Question Hour in the state legislative assembly today.

The government, he said, had identified 106 heritage structures and further work of listing structures was underway.

At present, the government was funding for restoration and conservation of four heritage structures including The Church of Our Lady of Health, Ribandar, (Rs 18 lakh), The Church of St Anne (Rs.329 lakh), Shri Maruthi Temple, Advalpai, Bicholim, (Rs 14.5 lakh) and The House of Surshri Kesarbai Kerkar, Keri, (Rs 10 lakh), he added.
