Bhattal condemns lathicharge on farmers
Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today strongly condemned the lathicharge and brutal use of force on farmers and farm labourers at Kheowali village in Lambi Constituency in Muktsar district yesterday.
Lamenting the use of force against the farmers who were agitating against the non-implementation of their already accepted demands, she said that police lathicharge was ''uncalled for, deplorable and highly condemnable''.
In a statement here, Ms Bhattal said the present regime had crossed all limits to gag democracy and the press, which was evident from its day-to-day working.
She said the Government had ''miserably failed'' on all fronts, be it power supply, fiscal management, release of old age pensions, or 'shagun' schemes.
