Amend MCI Act, Bindal asks Ramadoss
New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Rajeev Bindal today asked the Centre to amend the Medical Council of India (MCI) Act to facilitate setting up of medical and nursing colleges in the State in the private partership mode.
During his meeting with Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, Mr Bindal also urged the Centre to provide to the State the latest drugs to treat tuberculosis resistance cases.
He also sought central assistance for strengthening emergency medical services.
Mr Bindal informed Mr Ramadoss that his Government had formulated a plan to make Himachal Pradesh anemia-free in the next five years.
Under the plan, all health institutions will be provided testing kits and their staff trained to deal with anemic patients.
He said the State Government also planned to bring down the woman and child mortality rates considerably in the next five years, according to Himachal Pradesh Public Relations Office here.
