Eunuchs to intensify Amarnath agitation in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 21 (UNI) After an overwhelming response to 'Jail Bharo Andolan' and strengthening the agitation with the announcement of ''civil disobedience'', the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti is going to be supported by the eunuchs (kinnars) community, who have warned to intensify the ongoing agitation.

Around fifty eunuchs yesterday took out a protest march on the Residence Road, situated in the heart of the city, along with hundreds of protestors, official sources here said.

''The Centre should intervene as early as possible to pacify the Jammu situation and restore the land back to the Shrine Board,'' one of the senior eunuchs leading the protest said.

''The agitation will be intensified and if possible, the 'kinnars' from all over the country will be invited here to participate in protest rallies against the Union and the state governments for taking people of Jammu for granted,'' the 'kinnar' added.

The Eunuchs had extended their support to the samiti, a conglomerate of 45-religious social and political organizations, spearheading the agitation demanding restoration of 40 hectares of land at Baltal to the Amarnath Shrine Board.
