CPI(M) criticises hike in private bus fare

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 21: Tiruchirapalli-unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday, Aug 21 criticised the sudden hike in fares in private buses in this district of Tamil Nadu.

In a statement here, CPI(M) District Secretary S Sridhar said the private bus operators had unilaterally decided to hike the fares, putting the travellers to considerable hardship.

Mr Sridhar said since the bus fare was fixed by the State Government, the district administration and the Government should ensure reduction in fare, besides initiating action against the private bus operators.
