Autos to hold 'Horn Bajao' demo on Aug 23

Hyderabad, Aug 21 (UNI) Auto drivers in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad would hold a novel protest demonstration "Horn Bajao" on August 23 at AP Transport Bhawan.

The auto drivers would organise the demonstration demanding the state government, as a temporary measure to permit the private cars on city roads only on alternate days, keeping the traffic congestion in view.

In a statement, Telangana Auto drivers Joint Action Committee convener Mohammed Amanullah Khan said till the MMTS project was completed, the government should permit the cars ending with even registration numbers on one day and the cars ending with odd numbers, on the next day.

He further demanded that like autos, the registration of new vehicles in all categories be stopped forthwith. He alleged that the government was adopting double standards in restricting the number of autos but was continuing the registration of other new vehicles, leading to traffic congestion on city roads.
