Cheers and celebrations greet Musharraf's resignation

Lahore/Islamabad/Quetta, August 18, 2008: Pakistan on Monday, Aug 18 by and large, welcomed the resignation of President Pervez Musharraf.

Nuclear-armed Pakistan's embattled President announced his resignation on Monday, Aug 18 in the face of an impending impeachment motion by the ruling coalition government. Cheers and celebrations broke out in the streets of Pakistan after his resignation.
