UP assembly congratulates Abhinav Bindra

Lukcnwo, Aug 20(UNI) Uttar Pradesh assembly today passed a resolution congratulating Beijing Olympic gold medal winner shooter Abhinav Bindra for becoming the first Indian to win an individual gold in the Olympics.

State parliamentary affairs minister Lalji Verma moved the resolution to congralute Abhinav for his deed during the zero hour of the state assembly which was supported by all members.

However, BJP member Radha Mohan Das Agarwal urged the government to congralute Diwakar Ram, a young hockey player in a similar manner.

Mr Agarwal said Diwakar,resident of Gorakhpur. was the main goal scorer for the winners India in the Junior Hockey World Cup.
