Rajiv set the ball rolling to make India modern: DPCC pres
New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Jai Prakash Agarwal today said it was due to the vision and foresight of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi that India was a power in its own right.
At a function held at the DPCC headquarters to mark the 64th Birth anniverasary of the late Prime Minister, Mr Agarwal exhorted the youth to come forward and work hard to realise Gandhiji's dream of making India a World power in every respect in the 21st Century.
Hundreds of Congress workers and leaders participated in the function, which was attended by Union Minister of State for Communication Jyotiraditya Scindia, Congress MP Krishna Tirath, Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri, several Congress MLAs, DPCC office bearers and workers of the Youth Congress, NSUI and the Nehru brigade.
Addressing the workers, Mr Scindia said that later Rajiv Gandhi worked for World peace, a secular policy without fear and charted out the path for making India a modern and technologically advanced world power.
