Nationwide-strike evokes good response in UP
Lucknow, Aug 20 (UNI) The Left supported day-long nationwide strike called by the major trade unions against the policies of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government today evoked a good response in most parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Banks, insurance companies, Post Offices and Telephone department officials boycotted work to be a part of the strike.
The State Bank of India (SBI) officials, however, functioned normally and remained an exception to it.
The agitators gave went to their anger outside their respective offices and ranted stentorian anti-UPA government slogans.
As per the reports from Kanpur, certain defence establishments and Income Tax offices also participated in the strike.
