Industrial strike evokes minimum response in Bihar

Patna, Aug 20 (UNI) The Left Trade Union sponsored nationwide Industrial strike evoked minimum response in Bihar today.

Life in the entire state, including the capital city here, remained absolutely normal with shops, markets, private offices and educational institutions remaining open as usual despite the strike call.

Most of the government offices, including the state secretariat and Patna High Court, functioned normally since morning.

Vehicles were also plying normally and there was no report of any disruption in train and air services, official sources here informed.

However, services in public sector banks and some other financial institutions were disrupted as they downed their shutters in response to the strike call.

The strike has been called by 53 national Trade Unions, including the CITU and AITUC, in protest against the UPA government's economic, industrial and foreign policies.

There was also no report of any untoward incident from any part of the state in connection with the strike, the sources added.
