Bihar: 5 pilgrims killed as bus falls into ditch

Samastipur, Aug 20: At least five people including two women and as many children were killed and 35 injured when a bus carrying them fell into a ditch at coldstorage chowk under Tajpur police station area in the district tonight.

Police said the incident took place when the ill fated bus, which was on way to Deoghar from Manihari in Muzaffarpur district, fell into a road side ditch at coldstorage chowk. Five people including two women and as many children were killed on the spot in the accident, police added.

''35 injured people were rushed to nearby government and private hospitals'' police said adding condition of the ten people was stated to be serious.

Senior police and civil officers were camping on the spot to monitor the rescue operation, police added.
