Eight get life terms in kidnapping for ransom case
Patna, Aug 20 (UNI) A sessions court here today handed down life imprisonment to eight people in a kidnapping for ransom case.
The court also slapped fine of Rs 10,000 against each the convicts.
The additional district and sessions judge Vijay Prakash Mishra found all the accused guilty under sections 364(a), 34 and 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the charges, Vikrant Singh, son of Umesh Chandra Singh, a doctor, was kidnapped for ransom of Rs 50 lakh from Buddha Colony area in the state capital, on December 23, 2003.
A student of class twelve, Vikrant was rescued safely by police on January 31, 2004 from Gopalganj district.
