Assembly monsoon Session from Aug 25
Hyderabad, Aug 20 (UNI) The Monsoon Session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly will begin from August 25, which is likely to be short, but stormy.
The Session, expected to last over a week, is likely to assume importance in the wake of Telugu actor Chiranjeevi formally launching his party at a public meeting in Tirupati on August 26.
The focus would be on Backward Classes with the State Government planning to move a resolution urging the Centre to provide statutory reservation in the political arena, especially for the Kapu Community, a proposal initially mooted in the late 1990's.
The actor is from Kapu Community, a dominating force especially in the coastal area as they accounted for more than 20 per cent of the state's population.
TDP President and Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu, who had cut short his 'Meekosam Yatra' in view of the Session, would focus on ''corruption'' during the Congress regime.
Governor N D Tiwari today issued a notification summoning the State Assembly to meet at 1100 hrs on August 25. The Legislative Council is slated to meet from August 26.
