Agitating Shiv Sena activists arrested for opposing KMC's proposal

Kolhapur, Aug 20 (UNI) Shiv Sena activists were arrested here today in front of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) for opposing KMC's proposal to hike in-house tax.

KMC has been undertaken to serve increased house tax notices to all the citizens and in protest against it, Shiv Sena city unit called agitation to gherao the corporation's main building on the eve of KMC's general body meeting.

The agitation was led by Shiv Sena city Chief Rajesh Kshirsagar, corporator (SS) Sanjay Pawar. They gathered in front of KMC building and gheraoed it to prevent elected members to go inside to attend the meeting.

Over the issue, there was a wrangle in between the agitating Shiv Sena workers and policemen, resulting in tense situation at the area.

Police then arrested about 72 activists, including Mr Kshirsagar, Mr Pawar, under IPC 341 section, who all were released on bail by the local court, when the activists were produced before the court later in the day.
