Prachanda sworn in as Nepal PM

Kathmandu, August 19, 2008 : Nepal"s Maoist chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias “Prachanda" was sworn in as the country's Prime Minister on Monday. Prachanda takes charge of the government after his party's thumping victory in the prime ministerial elections.

He was administered his oath of office by President Ram Baran Yadav. It will be the first Maoist-led government in Nepal, which was once an anti-communist Hindu kingdom ruled by the powerful Shah Kings.
