DRUCC demands fast gauge conversion

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 19 (UNI) Members of the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) today demanded speeding up of gauge conversion of the Main line between Mayiladuthurai and Villupuram.

At the DRUCC meeting here they also demanded that a direct train be run between Mayiladuthurai and Rameswaram till the gauge conversion work between Villupuram and Mayiladuthurai was completed.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) S Subramhanyan, who presided the meeting said the Gauge Conversion work would be over in a few months and a direct train from Chennai to Rameswaram via Mayiladuthurai would be run.
