Official sources said the World Bank has sanctioned Rs 20.65 crore while the Tamil Nadu Government has released Rs 4.62 crore for the programme which will be completed by 2012.

The system would help planners, policymakers and officials to prepare both short and long-term strategies for efficient use of ground and surface water and flood management. A software would be developed in coordination with the National Informatics Centre for the benefit of users, the sources added.
