CBMs with Pakistan has not yielded any results: Rajnath
Bangalore, Aug 19 (UNI) The confidence building measures (CBM) initiated by India with Pakistan have not brought any benefits as terror related activities continue to rise, Bharatiya Janata Party said today.
Party President Rajnath Singh today said that the party demands the UPA government to 'shift gear' to initiate 'aggressive' diplomatic action against Pakistan, and its intelligence agency ISI, to achieve the desired results.
Addressing a press conference here today he said ISI and other anti-India forces had been actively involved in carrying out terrorist attacks on the Indian soil and charged that the UPA government had failed to come to terms in fighting these divisive forces.
Mr Singh who was in the city to attend the Special Executive meeting of the Karnataka BJP unit, said that BJP demands the Centre to initiate an aggressive diplomatic action against Pakistan and the ISI.
He said the UPA government, after having 'utterly' failing in combating the forces behind the terror acts, was now resorting to making false claims to cover up its shortcoming in protecting the life and property of the people of India.
Expressing doubt over the 'tall' claims made by National Security Advisor M K Narayanan that the intelligence agencies had unearthed over 800 sleeper modules across the country, Mr Singh demanded Prime Minister to clarify on the matter.
He said that former Deputy National Security Advisor, Satish Chandra had contested the claims of the incumbent over the sleeping cells.
Mr Chandra had also have questioned the authenticity of the claims made by National Security Advisor.
"It is a very sensitive and serious matter and Prime Minister should intervene and clarify the status on the unearthing of sleeper modules" he demanded.
