Cabinet sub committee on drought holds meeting
Bangalore, Aug 19 (UNI) Karnataka Cabinet Sub Committee on drought today discussed issues relating to relief works in the scarcity and flood-hit areas of the state.
Cabniet Sub Committee Chairman G Karuanaka Reddy told reporters that more than 190 villages were affected by floods in nine districts and so far it had claimed the lives of 19 people.
He said the district administration had been instructed to take up the relief works for providing drinking water and fodder to the areas where the monsoon was insufficient.
Mr Karunaka Reddy, who also heads the Revenue department, said the State Government would submit a memorandum to the Centre for seeking assistance to tackle the situation.
