BMS decides not to support Left-backed AIBEC strike
Bangalore, Aug 19 (UNI) Canara Bank Workers Organisation, coming under the umbrella of National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) would not support tomorrow's strike call given by the Left backed All India Bank Employees Confederation (AIBEC).
NOBW Organising Secretary Mohan Kumtakar, in a release here today said the strike call was merely an annual ritualistic exercise with no real intention of addressing the employees issues.
It also observed that the Left was very much part of the UPA for more than four years, and it had a great opportunity to settle the issues, but once out of power they were resorting to old tactics of calling strike ostensibly for employees welfare.
The proposed strike would cause unnecessary hardship to bank and customers besides helping very little to the employees. Hence NOBW had urged all its members not to participate in the 'motivated' strike, the release added.
BMS had already embarked on series of democratic agitations.
Memorandums were being submitted to Ministers and MPs for speedy settlement of long pending issues of the employees. It had also organised demonstrations at all the state capitals to draw the attention of bank management, the release said.
