'Bengalooru' to be 'Bengaluru' soon
{image-Bangalore 2_19082008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Bangalore Aug 19: Now Bangaloreans need to get used to the spelling of 'Bengalooru' as 'Bengaluru'. The Bangalore High Court on Tuesday, Aug 19 has ordered a copy of the petition seeking directions to spell as 'Bengaluru' instead of 'Bengalooru'. The petition will be served to the governrnent.
K N Srinivas and others, in their petition, said that it should be spelt as 'Bengaluru' instead of the present spellings. On the occasion of Suvarana Karnataka celebrations, the state government on November 1, 2007 proposed the change in the names of Mysore, Bangalore, Mangalore and other cities.
The petition articulated that the 'Bengalooru' not being a Kannada word should be replaced by 'Bengaluru' by BIAL, media and Government Departments.
