Pay commission benefit from Jan 1,2006: Govt
Lucknow, Aug 18: Uttar Pradesh government today announced to revise pay scales of its government employees as per the recommendations of sixth pay commission with effect from January 1, 2006.
The revised pay scales to the state employees would be paid in cash from December 1, 2008 while the arrears would be payable with effect from January 1, 2006.
An announcement in this regards was made by Chief Minister Mayawati at a luncheon-press conference here this afternoon. Earlier, she made the same announcement in the state assembly also.
The decision would benefit 8.71 lakh state employees and over 5.50 lakh teachers and it would incur additional financial burden to the tune of Rs 5179 crore annually towards increased pay bills and Rs 14,775 crore towards arrears of the government employees, the Chief Minister said.
