Two HNLC militants arrested
Shillong, Aug 18 (UNI) Two hardcore Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) cadres have been arrested in Meghalaya while attempting extortion from a coal dealer in the city, police said today.
The arrested militants identified as Bashembha Pathaw alias Commando and Amar Starwell Lamare were nabbed from Shillong Club yesterday.
The duo, who were released from the jail recently, reportedly demanded Rs five lakh from a coal dealer, whom police wished not to reveal his name for security reasons.
However, the main conniver of the extortion drive, Fullmoon Dhar managed to flee from the scene.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the duo, while the hunt was on to arrest the other.
