State Bank of India strike hits Pondy

Puducherry, Aug 18: Banking operations in the State Bank of India (SBI) and it's associate banks here were crippled following a day's strike by the SBI Officers Federation as part of their nation-wide agitation today.

The agitation was to protest the merger of the State Bank of Saurashtra with the SBI.

All India State Bank of India Officers Federation President Ramalingam told newspersons the functioning of 15 branches of the SBI and one branch each of the State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Hyderabad and the State Bank of Mysore was affected as over 150 officers struck work today.
