Samit Patel makes ODI debut for England
London: England handed a debut to Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel for the inaugural one-day international against Scotland on Monday.
Patel was named in a new-look XI at the Grange as Kevin Pietersen's official reign as England's one-day skipper got under way.
Sussex wicketkeeper Matt Prior was re-instated at the top of the order to allow Luke Wright to drop back into the middle, with Paul Collingwood serving the second of a four-match ban.
Andrew Flintoff made his ODI return after an absence of a year while Yorkshire all-rounder Tim Bresnan was handed a recall after a two-year hiatus.
Ryan Sidebottom and Chris Tremlett both miss out through injury as England warm up for the one-day series against South Africa starting on Friday.
