Manipur trade union to support all India strike on Aug 20
Imphal, Aug 18 (UNI) To protest the alleged anti-worker policies of the UPA government, the sponsoring committee of Manipur Trade union, has decided to support the all India strike and has called a state- wide bandh, from dawn to dusk on August 20.
The convenor of the sponsoring committee, L Sotinkumar here today said that the general strike is being called by us alongwith with various other associations and federations as part of the nation wide agitation against the UPA government to revoke its anti-worker policies.
The ground staff of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) would also suspend their work and stop the flight service, it was stated.
All the employees of the Telecom, Postal, Bank, Insurance and other government departments would suspend their work.
Transport services and business establishments would also be stopped, it was added.
The committee is also demanding the UPA government to stop commercialisation of education and health care and reduce prices of essential commodities.
