Malaria claims 3 in MP village
Shivpuri, MP, Aug 18 (UNI) A police constable and two children have died due to malaria in this district's Bamhari village where more than two dozen people are suffering from the ailment.
The Bamhari Station House Officer was among four personnel affected by the disease. Constable Raghavendra died on August 15 and the kids died yesterday. The personnel are undergoing treatment here and fresh staff was sent to Bamhari.
''The situation at the village, with a population of 250, is under control. Three medical teams have been stationed there. Blood samples of two dozen villagers were collected and are being analysed. Prima facie, there are indications of plasmodium falciparum (a protozoan parasite, one of the species of Plasmodium that cause malaria),'' said Chief Medical and Health Officer H S Sharma.
Spraying was underway at the village and prevention-linked details being provided to people.
