Heavy inflow into Krishna
Hyderabad, Aug 18 (UNI) Major reservoirs across river Krishna in Andhra Pradesh is fast filling up due to heavy discharge of water from Karnataka.
Following good rains in the catchment areas, authorities in Karnataka released 2.10 lakh cusecs of water from Almatti, official sources here said.
With the level in Srisailam reservoir crossing the 880 ft mark against the full level of 885 ft, 1.75 lakh cusecs was discharged downstream. The inflow into the reservoir was 2.22 lakh cusecs.
''With the present rate of discharge from Karnataka, the reservoirs in the state are likely to surplus well before this month-end,'' they added.
A huge 2.03 lakh cusecs of water was received at Jurala, the point where the river enters the state.
The level in Nagarjunasagar stood at 545 ft as against the maximum level of 590 ft, sources added.
