Five Kanwariyas die in road accident in Bihar
Munger, Aug 18 (UNI) At least five Kanwariyas were killed and four others seriously injured when their private vehicle collided head-on with a speeding bus coming from the opposite direction near Nawagarhi village on Munger-Bhagalpur main road of National Highway 80.
Police said here today that the mishap occurred last night as the driver of the private vehicle carrying the pilgrims lost control.
All the victims were inhabitants of Nawagarhi village and were returning from their pilgrimage at Deogarh.
The bus was also carrying Kanwariyas to Deogarh for special offerings.
The injured were admitted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital where their condition was stated to be critical.
Both the vehicles had been seized, police added.
Meanwhile, protesting against the incident and demanding compensation for the next of kin of those killed in the accident, local people blocked the main road near Nawagarhi village since this morning, which was later lifted following intervention of the local administration and former Bihar Minister Monazir Hassan.
