DMCH students strike work
Darbhanga, Aug 18 (UNI) The students of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) have struck work in the emergency as well as outdoor services departments of the hospital to protest the alleged manhandling of a medical student by police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Parvez Akhtar said here today that following the complaint of students nuisance at the residence of DMCH Principal Dr S K Sinha on the night of August 14, DMCH student Ravishankar was brought to the police station for interrogation, but was later released.
Meanwhile, on getting information about the incident, the students of DMCH gheraoed the Beta police station last night in protest against the alleged manhandling of Ravishankar by the police.
The agitating students later put a lock at the gate of the emergency unit of the DMCH last night.
Continuing their agitation, the medical students also paralysed the outdoor services since this morning at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the hospital administration has been holding negotiations with the agitating students to resolve the crisis.
