Chiranjeevi makes his political debut
Hyderabad, Aug. 18 : Telugu actor K. Chiranjeevi has announced his decision to enter politics and serve the poor.
Chiranjeevi, after an eight-month silence on his political plans at a press conference, said it would be a historical blunder if he failed to respond to people when politics had become hunting ground for selfish persons.
He asserted that there was a political vacuum in the state, and his party would be different in its approach to the people's problems.
He said that he had no political rivals. His main enemies were poverty and backwardness.
Former President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's advised him, to look beyond the film career and take motivation from N.T. Rama Rao.
The name of Chiranjeevi's party, the design and the colour of flag and political agenda will be declared in a public meeting at Tirupati on August 26, coinciding with Mother Teresa's birth anniversary.
Fans and political followers greeted the announcement with delight, bursting crackers and organising rallies across Andhra Pradesh.
Chiranjeevi, also known, as a mega star, is a three-time Nandi Award winner. He has won seven-time best actor award in Telugu cinema industry and is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award.
