Chhattisgarh Govr inspects factories
Raipur, Aug 18 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Governor E S L Narasimhan today made a sudden inspection of some polluting units in the nearby Siltara Industrial Area and one factory was closed down for not having an electro-static precipitator (ESP).
The Governor was in Dharsiwan block headquarters to inaugurate a Red Cross blood bank when villagers told him in detail about the units. Mr Narasimhan also gathered information from local MLA Devji Patel. The Governor then summoned Raipur District Collector Sonmani Vora and, on the return journey, ordered that the official vehicle be made to head for a smoke-belching factory.
While waiting in the vehicle, Mr Narasimhan told Mr Vora to go inside the unit and himself entered the factory after sometime.
Officials found that the unit did not have an ESP.
''The Governor discussed the matter with me. No unit will be allowed to function sans an ESP,'' Secretary (Environment and Public Relations) N Baijendra Kumar told UNI.
