Buddhadeb not to risk land aquisition before LS elections:SUCI
Kolkata, Aug 18 (UNI) The SUCI today felt that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee-led Left Front government would not risk into acquiring land for setting up industry in West Bengal before the Lok Sabha elections.
The Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) state secretary Provash Ghosh told newspersons that Mr Bhattacharjee earlier displayed a ''don't care attitude'' in forceful acquisiution of land before the Panchayat and Municipal elections.
In the wake of huge setbacks in last two elections, the government would not take any risks before the parliamentary polls, Mr Ghosh opined.
'' We don't believe in the Chief Minister's assurance that no land would be acquired in the state for setting up industry in near future without the people's consent, '' he said.
He also informed that the SUCI's trade union UTUC would separately observe the strike called by Left-trade unions on August 20, as the party felt that the CPI(M)'s trade union CITU did not believe in the state government's ''anti-labourer'' activities. Furthermore, the SUCI has taken a month-long agitational programme from August 20 to September 21 to protest the alleged anti-labourer policies of the Centre and state government alike.
