BUCTU to hold strike on August 20

Mumbai, Aug 18 (UNI) The Bombay University and College Teachers' Union (BUCTU) will observe a one-day strike on August 20 as part of the nationwide strike called by All India Federation of University&College Teachers' Organization (AIFUCTO).

The strike has been called for demanding immediate and uniform implementation of the sixth Pay Commission recommendations. The Federation is also demanding that the U G C Pay Review committee's recommendations should be declared before September five and that it should hold further discussions with AIFUCTO, a release said here today.

The protest is also against stoppage of recruitment of Group D employees under the sixth Pay Commission recommendations, privatization of pension, FDI in education, outsourcing of regular jobs, contractualization and privatization of the education sector, the release added.
