AGP steering committee meet

Guwahati, Aug 18 (UNI) The Asom Gana Parishad(AGP) today began its crucial steering committee meeting to discuss the state's present situation, the infiltration problem and the unification issue.

The steering committee is expected to take a tough stand on infiltration, which has snowballed into a major issue threatening to trigger the second Assam agitation.

According to AGP General Secretary Atul Bora the meeting is expected to take note of the progress of the unification process of all the regional forces of Assam under one banner.

This is noteworthy that AGP had met the AASU and AJYCP in this regard in the past three days, but has not progressed much as there is strong opposition to the reinduction of former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.
