No proposal to privatise temples in K'taka: Minister
Mysore, Aug 17 (UNI) Karnataka Rural Development Minister Shobha Karandlaje today said there was no proposal before the State Government to hand over any temple to private persons or organisations from the ''Muzarai Department''.
Talking to reporters here, she dismissed as ''baseless'' the reports that the government was thinking about privatising temples, including the famous Chamundewshwari temple atop Chamundi Hills in the city.
Some reports had stated that apart from 'land mafia,' some religious institutions and industrialists had shown interest in running these temples with an eye on the valuable land possessed by the temples.
