No 'privatisation' of temples in K'taka: Minister
Mysore, Aug 17 (UNI) There as no proposal before the Karnataka government to hand over any temple to private persons or organisations from the Muzarai department, Rural development Minister Shobha Karandlaje said today.
Speaking to reporters she said the reports about the government thinking of privatising these temples, including the famous Chamundewshwari temple atop Chamundi Hills in the city, was baseless.
Reports said, apart from 'land mafia', some religious institutions and industrialists had shown interest in taking over the running of these temples in view of the valuable land that was in the possession of these temples.
