Madan Lal Dhingra remembered on martyrdom day

Karnal, Aug 17 (UNI) The 100th Martyrdom Day of Madan Lal Dhingra was observed all over Haryana with the state level function being held here today.

Paying rich tributes to the great martyr, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the people of Punjabi community had earned fame by virute of their hard work and dedication. They had brought laurels not only to the State but also to the whole of the nation.

Mr Hooda said that the great martyrs and freedom fighters such as Madan Lal Dhingra, Sardar Bhagat Singh and Rajguru played a very important role in our freedom struggle.

Referring to the demands put by the Haryana Yuva Panjabi Front, Mr Hooda said that all their demands would be considered sympathetically. The Front honoured the Chief Minister with a memento on the occasion.

The Chief Minister also unveiled the life size statue of Madan Lal Dhingra.

Addressing the people Mr Arvind Sharma, MP from Karnal said that the Chief Minister had taken a number of welfare steps for freedom fighters and their families. He also demanded a piece of land for the construction of 'Dharamshalas' for Punjabi, Balmiki and Brahmin communities.

Mr Kuldeep Sharma, Working President Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee and Mrs Meena Mandal, Minister of State for Cooperation and Mrs Sumita Singh, local MLA also spoke on this occasion.
