Two cops killed in road mishap on NH-I in Punjab
Amritsar, Aug 16 (UNI) Two Punjab Police constables in the security convoy of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and MP, Sukhbir Singh Badal, were killed when a private bus rammed into their jeep near Devidaspura on NH-I in the district last night.
Police today said that the security convoy was on its way to Amritsar as Mr Badal was to arrive in the city from New Delhi by train. The bus enroute to Delhi collided head-on with the jeep, killing constables, Rajinder Singh and Gursewak Singh and injuring constable Baljit Singh.
A civilian who was standing on the roadside also sustained injuries. The injured have been admitted to a hospital here.
The police registered a case against the bus driver at the Jandiala police station.
