Penguin receives knighthood in zoo ceremony!
Melbourne, Aug 16 : A penguin named Nils Olav has been awarded the honorary knighthood for good conduct and his role as honorary colonel-in-chief of the Norwegian King's Guard. The three-foot tall penguin has become the third bird to serve as the guards' mascot.
Zoo spokeswoman Maxine Finlay said the guards adopted the penguin following one of their regular visits to the zoo during the annual Edinburgh Military Tattoo, reports News.com.au
During the knighthood ceremony, Nils Olav was honoured with the speeches and a fanfare and was escorted by the guard's Color Detachment.
The Penguin Nils Olav had been made the honorary member and mascot of the Norwegian King's Guard since 1972.
